What is the Tarot?
Tarot cards have been around for a gazillion years. Well, a few hundred at least. There are a good number of websites with the history of tarot on the internet - so you can research at your leisure. Here are some of my favorites:

www.artandwords.com - This is the site for the artist (Kris Waldherr) who made the Goddess Tarot deck - the deck that I use.

Who is this Melissa chick?
Hi. That would be me. I'm a professional tarot card and palm reader. I've been doing readings since I was 14 years old. I'm 33 now, and I'm still learning more about the process every day. I started reading with a basic Rider Waite deck. I was..um...not good. Well, I was good enough to make beer money in college, but that's about it. I kept practicing and one day, about seven years ago, I quit using the tarot book and started using my intuition. Then, the readings took off. I'd say that my accuracy rating would be in the 90-95% range these days.
Anyway, I've recently discovered that I can do tarot readings online without losing any accuracy. I can do readings on the phone, through an email, or using IM. I can also do palm readings through email - if you photocopy your palm (dominant hand, please) and email it to me, I can send you back a palm reading.

My tarot readings involve me and a deck of cards. I use the Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr. You can send me an email, with a question or without, and I'll concentrate on you and lay out the cards in a Celtic Cross or six card pattern. Then, I interpret the cards for you and send you the reading. If I find that I need more information, I'll use more cards and different layouts to give you a complete reading. You may follow up with a question after you receive your reading.
*I do find that readings are easier if I have a picture of you to focus on. If you're comfortable with this, please send one in the email. If not, that's ok, too.
